Nirma University is a private university, recognized and approved by UGC, AIU, and has been accredited grade ‘A’ by NAAC. Admissions to the college are open through both offline and online modes. The college offers B.Tech in Chemical Engineering as a four-year full-time course at a fee of Rs7.24 Lakhs for the full period.

LNM Institute of Technology (LNMIIT) is a deemed university, has been recognized by UGC and approved by AICTE, ARIIA, and AISHE. It has been accredited ‘A’ grade by the NAAC. The college does not provide Electrical Engineering however it provides B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering as a four-year course at a fee of 12.36 lakhs.

Admission Procedure

Nirma University:

• The prerequisite for seeking admission to Chemical Engineering is scoring 55% and more in 10+2 examinations (PCM/B).
• Further, students are shortlisted on the basis of JEE Main or GUJCET scores.
• The course has a total of 60 seats available.

LNMIIT:

• The eligibility criteria for candidates for ECE is 60% marks in their 10+2 examinations.
• Candidates are further selected on the basis of their score in JEE Main.
• The college offers 150 seats for the course.

Infrastructure & Facilities

Nirma University:

• The college is built over a huge 115-acre campus.
• A well-equipped library is on-campus which houses over 1,20,000 books.
• The institute also provides separate hostels for boys and girls with adequate facilities.
• Other facilities such as laboratories, gym, cafeterias, medical facilities, Wi-Fi, air-conditioned classrooms and auditoriums are provided.

LNMIIT:

• The college is built over a massive 100-acre campus.

Placements

• Nirma University:The course has a placement rate of 70%. Companies such as L&T, Reliance, and HUL come on-campus for placements. The package offered to students ranges between 2.5LPA and 7LPA.

• LNMIIT:The course has a placement rate of around 85%. Top recruiters include Amazon, Adobe, and Cisco. The lowest package offered is around 4LPA, while the average package is approximately 6.5LPA. The highest package offered to a student may go up to a whopping 13.5LPA.

Both colleges are good choices, however, LNMIIT specializes in engineering courses making it a notch above the other. The college scores higher than Nirma on nearly all parameters. Placements at LNMIIT are far superior as compared to the latter. However, Nirma provides a similar campus at a much lower fee making its return on investment similar to LNMIIT. Making a choice between the two would depend on one's financial preferences.

Nirma University, DDIT, Nadiad, and SRM, AP are private institutions of the country. While all are approved by UGC, DDIT is also recognized by AICTE. Nirma University and DDIT are graded ‘A’ and ‘B++’ by NAAC, respectively.

The only differences between general and NRI seats are the fee and application process, for both DDIT and SRM AP.

Infrastructure and Facilities

• Nirma University: The institute offers facilities such as outdoor sports, courts, transport, library, etc. The campus also hosts a number of events, seminars, and activities.
• DDIT: The institute offers an environment of all-round development, excellent faculty, library, hostel, sports, labs, etc.
• SRM AP: The institute offers its students learning in various forms, both formal and informal, sports grounds, courts and tracks, yoga rooms, transport, etc.

Scholarships

• Nirma University: Students are offered Merit and Merit-cum-Means scholarships by the institute. The value of aid varies according to institutes.
• DDIT: 4 students are awarded merit and merit cum means scholarships each year. DDU Alumni Scholarship Association Fund has also been set up.
• SRM AP: The institute offers scholarships based on merit, need, disability, and arts and culture, and armed forces scholarships as well.

Placement Statistics

• Nirma University: 95% of students were placed and the highest CTC offered was 16 LPA and the average CTC was 8.2 LPA. Top recruiters include Amul, Ashok Leyland, L&T, ICICI Bank, RBI, etc.
• DDIT: The highest and average packages offered were 18 LPA and 4.5 LPA, respectively. Top recruiters include Amazon, Infosys, RBI, Amul, etc.
• SRM AP: Since the first badge of this institute will graduate in 2021, no placement data is available for the same. 190 B.Tech. students got internships in 75 companies including ONGC, Coca Cola, Flextronics, etc. Some also spent a semester abroad.

Students must compare all the programs and institutes properly before selecting one. Whether one of these institutes is the best is difficult to say since it is one’s personal discretion.

Nirma University-Institute of Technology is ranked 135th for private engineering by NIRF 2019. Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology is ranked 193rd in India by NIRF’20.

Nirma University:

• The university has a budget of lakhs/year for any books and materials relevant to the curriculum. The library has more than 50,000 books, 4000 volumes, journals, magazines, and papers.

• Nirma University also has a mini hospital and doctor available for medical issues.

• The university also encourages cultural and sports activities.

• There is a gym, a sports ground, and a tennis and volleyball court. The university also provides shuttle services.

DDU:

The university provides all the basic facilities needed by students.

• The library is regularly updated with the newest edition of books, magazines, journals, and online resources.

• The university provides accommodation to both girls and boys.

• There are also other facilities like a gym, convenience stores, medical facilities, and shuttle services. Additionally, there are also several sports grounds including a swimming pool.

Both the colleges are similar when it comes to infrastructure, placement, and tuition fees. So, it ultimately depends on the students’ scores and favorable accommodation facilities to decide which college to opt for.

Nirma University holds #10 rank issued by Times. Admissions for CE in this university are based on JEE Main and merit followed by counseling and interview. University also has a good placement rate.

In 2018, Ganpat University was given an award for placement activities for Improvement of Education, Culture, and Country by the Government of Gujarat. The admission process is similar to Nirma university.

• Admission for both the courses in both universities is similar, based on the results of GUJCET (state-level test) and JEE mains followed by interview and counseling.
• GUJCET is required for admission under the Gujarat quota.
• With this students are also required to have at least 45% in 12th board with necessary subjects. 5% relaxation is there for SC and ST students.

Placements:

Nirma University

• Companies like Accenture, CMC, Cognizant, DeloitteConsulting, Eicher Motors, gammon, etc visit the campus every year in search of good placements.
• The average salary offered to students is 4.1 lakhs and the highest package is of up to 29.95 lakhs.
• University is known for its big campus and good facilities. The faculty is also well-experienced and qualified.

Ganpat University

• Companies like 3i Infotech, Airtel, alembic, Amdocs, Angel Broking, Aspire, etc visit the campus every year.
• Average salary package is of 3 lakhs and highest package offered is up to 12 lakhs.
• University has a huge campus. Facilities like ATM, bank, health facilities, gym, etc are available on campus. The faculty is also very helpful and well experienced.

Overall both the universities are equally good, both have the same admission process. But if we see in terms of fee structure, then Ganpat university is better than Nirma as both have nearly the same average placement rate and the fees of Ganpat is also very low.
