ISB Hyderabad is known for its lack of specialization in Finance. It’s a common understanding now that even if one is preferring ISB Hyderabad for admission, they know that they should go for anything but Finance. Studying some aspects will give you a deeper insight as to why MBA in Finance from ISB Hyderabad is not recommended.
Faculty: Although the visiting faculty is quite decent, it’s the domestic faculty that has ruined the culture at ISB. They are arrogant, pathetic, and extremely incapable. They insult the students regularly and disturb student-teacher relations.
Placements: The roles offered in Finance were below average like Operations, Sales, and BD roles. Such roles were offered in abundance by the banks or start-ups. However, the superior roles like IB/PE/VC/M&A/FP&A/Equity Research/Credit Rating/Asset Management/TAS were offered scarcely. For instance
So the best roles were offered limitedly while the batch size stood at 900. Most students ended up with unsatisfactory placements. Now you can decide whether or not to join if you are confident to face the placement scenario.
IIM Ahmedabad ePGD in Advance Business Analytics is a newly launched program by the b-school. The program is a perfect blend of tools and techniques for data visualization and modeling. The duration is for 16 months and ePGD admission is entrance based followed by an interview round.
As for the review, I am not sharing my own, but of a friend who recently completed this course. She considered the program to be very good but a bit on the expensive side. Let's break down the review into common aspects
Overall, the IIM Ahmedabad campus is superb and the excellent academic environment made choosing the Analytics program a great choice.
My brother was in the same batch as Aditya Khanna at IIM Ahmedabad.
My brother was worried in the beginning that he may not get to interact much with the popular people of his batch. But Aditya Khanna was friendly and approachable from the start. They interacted with each other, and my brother was highly impressed by Aditya. According to my brother, each second spent with the guy made him smarter.
Aditya is the epitome of humility and wisdom. He knew every concept, even before it was discussed in the class. Even without paying attention during class, he would be the one teaching difficult concepts to his batchmates.
He was a hero in the eyes of his batchmates, and my brother still remembers him fondly.

For management there’s no better B-school in India. IIM- B and FMS come close though.
The prestigious IIMs invite students to interviews based on their CAT percentiles. However, the 99 percentile mentioned in the question is for General Candidates (i.e. the perceived influential social class in India). Male and engineer candidates are more likely to meet the 99 percentile.
The competition for General Engineer Male candidates is tough. Because of their academic and co-curricular achievements, the cream of the GEM typically receives the majority of the call letters. As a result, given the limited number of seats in top Business Schools, there is almost nothing left for a typical GEM.
The candidate in question, Vidit Garg, is not a GEM, nor an Engineer, and thus gleefully avoids the arduous competition that a GEM faces. He is also a candidate with professional experience, which gives him an advantage over freshers when it comes to managerial abilities.
To summarise, the only way a GEM can almost guarantee a seat in a prestigious B school is to excel on all fronts.
While many may shed their philosophies on how getting a high package should not be your ultimate goal and stuff, I am here with a different opinion. When you are investing a huge amount of money it is only right to expect a greater monetary benefit and a better lifestyle. So I have mentioned some techniques that will help you land a package of 30 LPA specifically in the field of marketing post-MBA from IIM ABC, FMS, MDI, SPJIMR, and IIFT.
These points will help you get your dream job but cannot necessarily guarantee it. It all ultimately depends on your efforts and obviously your luck.
I would say life changes more after joining IIM Ahmedabad than after graduating from it. The academic workload, strenuous hours, assignments and exams all prepare you for the hectic life ahead. So once you graduate from IIM Ahmedabad you might even welcome the hectic work schedule with amazing salaries. The changes in your life will depend on the field you have chosen.
If you join a big consulting firm or an investment bank or a PE/VC, chances are you will spend more hours in your office than at home.
If you go for a general management role, your life will have a blend of both work and personal time.
If you join a technical firm, then you will experience a casual work culture and a lot of personal time.
Working at e-commerce giants and start ups will limit your chances of a work life balance.
As far as the pay of an IIM Ahmedabad pass out is considered, literally everyone gets paid decently. In fact after a few years you will focus more on your responsibilities than your salary. You have to carry the weight of being an IIM Ahmedabad passout as everyone will have high expectations from you.
You generally complete your internship in the first two months, after the completion of the internship you are able to return to the course.
After the internship, a question might pop in your mind, which is “Will you get good final placements?” The answer to this question depends on the C1 and C2 shortlists released during the summer.
If a student hasn’t managed to find a place on the shortlist, then he/she may face trouble while clearing the finals. However, there is no strict rule as such. The result depends on the performance of the student, which varies from person to person. If a student gets shortlisted but somehow fails to clear the interview, even then they do have a chance to steer out through the finals.
The students can even go for an exchange. Internship and exchange aren’t inter-related by any means. There have been students who have been placed at C1, C2, or C3 and they have gone for an exchange. Therefore, it’s totally possible.
Students often ask this question about how they can turn the situation around. Here, they need to understand that clusters don’t define how good or bad the assigned job is. All it does is highlights the type of recruiting company and the sector it belongs to. Thus, it is not a situation that needs to be turned around. C3 is equally good as C1, it isn’t inferior in any way.
The student needs to focus on keeping their GPA on track as well as getting done with their PGP2. Having gone through these steps the student will attain clarity, he/she can figure their way out. There aren’t any long term implications.
All the best!
Continue working if you enjoy your job and see it developing your ambitions and you as a person. Make a plan to work for a few years, switch jobs/profiles a few times to gain more diverse experience, and then get an MBA from a more internationally renowned business school in the US/Europe. If you were able to get into IIM-A now, chances are you will be able to do so again while you are still young.
Join IIM-Ahmedabad if you don't yet have clear life ambitions/roadmaps and don't see much value in your job beyond its salary value. As you get older, you will lose direction and enthusiasm in a soulless job.
You will then be too old for IIMs but not competitive enough for schools in the United States or Europe, or even ISB or IIMA PGPX. So it's better to get that degree now rather than later.
