How are the hostel rooms at mnnit?
MNNIT hostel rooms are in good condition. Three students share a room. Each hostel room has a bedroom, a study room, and a balcony. Students are provided with beds, chairs, study tables, cupboards, and study lamps. The hostel has wifi facilities.
The washrooms are common. Every floor has washrooms, at each corner. There are aqua guards and geysers on each floor as well. The hostels have common rooms. There are computer rooms with internet connection as well.
How is M.Tech in computer science at IIIT-Bangalore?
I completed my M.Tech CSE from IIIT Bangalore a few years back. Based on my experience, here are some pros and cons of joining this course/college-
Pros
- IIIT Bangalore sees a very diverse crowd. Students from various ethnic and academic backgrounds join the college each year. While some leave their jobs to pursue an M.Tech, others join right after their B.Tech. Some are very research-oriented and plan for a Ph.D. in the future.
- The students are very serious about academics. But they are also very supportive of each other.
- The seniors are very supportive and friendly. The college alumni network is very strong.
- The faculty for M.Tech CSE is very dedicated and helpful.
- The campus is neat, and Bangalore is just great for tech enthusiasts.
- Almost everyone is placed with a decent paycheck by the end of the course. Many students receive PPOs.
Cons
- The campus is small, and the college isn’t very old.
- The fees are quite high.
- IIIT Bangalore ranks below top NITs and is comparatively less popular.
- The administration isn’t student-friendly.
- Final sem students are forced to stay in the hostel if they intern anywhere in Bangalore. This is inconvenient if one’s office is far off, considering Bangalore’s traffic.
- The hostel curfew timings aren’t very convenient. No one is allowed outside of the campus post 10 PM.
In spite of some cons, IIIT Bangalore is a great choice for an M.Tech CSE.
Is it worth paying 13 lacs or more for a B.Tech CSE in KIIT University?
Whether a particular degree is worth the money you spend depends on a number of factors like your financial background and your future prospects. One of my relatives completed his BTech in CSE in 2012 and got a job that helped him pay back the loan within 2 years. However, this may not be the case for everyone. That being said, consider the following scenarios
- If you have zero financial constraints and want to live a dreamy college life, then KIIT is certainly the best place for you.
- If your parents have been saving money for you, save that for your Master's and do your Bachelors in IITs or NITs instead.
- If you have financial issues and loam is the only option, then leave that option for Master
Nevertheless, if you are adamant about joining anyways, go for CS or IT which will provide better placement opportunities than other branches.
Is IIM Nagpur good?
Nagpur is one of the most popular new IIMs that has been in the limelight for its world-class infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The institute enjoys 100% placement opportunities and is visited by many top firms like Landmark Group, ITC, Pidilite, EY, Amazon, Cognizant, and Goldman Sachs.

Faculties:
The faculty is top-notch, comprising Ph.D. holders and professors with impeccable industry experience. Their classes are something one should not miss if one wants to remain among the top students.
Crowd: People from various walks of life, profession, and age come under one roof and this in itself is a thrilling and engaging experience. Such good exposure opens your mind to the possibilities and opportunities that exist in reality. You end up making bonds for the rest of your life.
Opportunities: IIM Nagpur offers a plethora of opportunities to its students. The Field Immersion Programme (FIP) is one of the major highlights. Live projects are also conducted within India and abroad. The International Immersion Programme (IIP) which allows students to travel to five foreign locations.
IIM Nagpur in itself is an entity thought to be newly established. It’s not justified to compare it with the older IIMs.
Which college should I take, Seth GS or Grant medical college?
This majorly depends on the student’s choice and what they will prefer. Seth GS and Grant Medical College (GMC) are both good institutions. Here’s mentioning some facts analyzing which you can make your decision.
- GMC has the largest campus in Maharashtra, also it is one of the oldest colleges in India.
- They offer both boys and girls hostels. They also have separate common rooms.
- The hostels are spacious and offer both single and double occupancy rooms.
- Unlike other medical colleges, many cultural events, festivals, extracurricular activities, etc. take place here quite frequently.
- Seth GS is comparatively stricter and prefers discipline and punctuality.
- Most of Maharashtra’s top ranking students usually go there.
- Students outside Maharashtra tend to prefer GMC.
As mentioned by most of the students that GMC has better academics, facilities and co-curricular activities, it is suggested that you go for GMC rather than Seth GS.
Does anyone regret not joining BITS Pilani?
Yes, one of my friends strongly regrets giving up on BITS Pilani just because of the high fees and went for a low-ranked NIT instead and to date regrets his hasty decision. He wanted to pursue MSc in Economics from BITS Goa but he had to take civil in NIT.
He stated that the condition of core placements in NITs was pathetic and the average package was as low as 3-4 LPA. Only non-core companies visited for placements while his friends that chose BITS Goa MSc in Economics got excellent internship offers from JP Morgan Chase, Credit Suisse, etc. Moreover, the BITS Pilani dual degree places students in good IT, Analytics firms as well.
My friend's career has been set back by 3-4 years in comparison to his counterparts and it will take years to reach the salary package they are currently receiving. He now considers his last options as GATE, PSU, or MBA.
Did anyone convert IIM Ahmedabad and not join?
IIM Ahmedabad is definitely one of the best institutes for studies. But it’s not the only one with excellent opportunities. Many other colleges offer better opportunities and a wide range of career options than IIM Ahmedabad.
Many people get selected in IIM Ahmedabad but do not join it. This is because their career goals do not restrict them to IIM Ahmedabad only. One such example is Sudhakar Gupta from NSIT who scored a 100 percentile in 2014. He got selected in all the IIMs but instead chose to pursue a Masters Degree from Cornell University.
At the IIMs, while the career opportunities are excellent, they are more or less streamlined and restrictive in the initial period. So people with broad prospects tend to suffer here.
It depends on your long term career goals and your own conveniences at the end.
Which one is better for a BTech course: BITS Pilani or Manipal Institute of Technology Karnataka?
It's highly illogical to compare a Tier-1 engineering college like BITS to a Tier-2 university like Manipal Institute of Technology.
One cannot compare universities like Manipal, VIT, SRM, Jaypee, Amity, etc. to IIT, NIT, and BITS. These colleges have no brand value of their own and most of the people coming here are those who failed to qualify for competitive exams like JEE/BITSAT/AIEEE/etc. Moreover, the exposure and opportunities offered at BITS are unmatched. It's probably the only private engineering college that enjoys excellent global recognition too.
Irrespective of the branch you go for, the BITS Pilani degree has similar value everywhere. The BITS alumni network is great with some of them being co-founders of Redbus, Hotmail, etc.

The only factor you need to consider while joining BITS is the high fees and academic pressure. So choose wisely!
What is life like at XLRI?
One of my friends from school recently visited the XLRI Jamshedpur campus to deliver a guest lecture. To get to the institute, he had to change two flights which were followed by a ride in a cab that took him around three hours from Ranchi to Jamshedpur.
It was a tiring journey but he found it worth it. He had a good time on campus and praised the level of safety on the campus. The host of the cultural festival, a student organization, was very generous with their timing and hospitality.
The cultural program went on for three days and it was organized for students from other institutes. The goal of this program was to give them exposure to ideas which they can find difficult to get otherwise. My friend was delighted to talk to these students.
Also, there was a band performance which was one of the highlights of the program.
He thanked the team for their hospitality and took his leave the following morning. To his experience, he found life at campus very happening.
Which B-school should I choose amongst TAPMI PGDM, Great Lakes PGDM and KJ Somaiya PGDM?
TAPMI PGDM is the best option among these. It is a premier B-School. It has AMBA accreditation for all three of the PGDM programs, i.e. PGDM, PGDM-HR, and PGDM-BKFS.
TAPMI placements are excellent. According to 2022 highlights, the average CTC for the institute is INR 12 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 32 LPA.
The one drawback of TAPMI is the huge student intake. Each batch has over 400 students. The huge batch size often causes a dip in placements.
