DME Tamil Nadu has announced Special Stray Vacancy Round Counseling for MBBS and BDS courses. The counseling process will start on November 25, 2024.
The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee has officially announced a Special Stray Vacancy Round for MBBS and BDS courses, scheduled to take place between 25th November and 5th December 2024. This additional round has been introduced to fill 7 MBBS and 28 BDS seats that remain vacant after four previous rounds of counselling.
Eligibility Criteria for Candidates
Eligible Candidates:
- Candidates without any seat allotment who have applied to the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee and appear on the merit list.
- Candidates who joined seats in R1/R2/R3 or Stray Round and wish to apply for reallotment. These candidates must register for this round to create virtual vacancies.
Not Eligible Candidates:
- Candidates who were allotted seats in the previous Stray Round but did not join.
- Candidates currently studying in seats allotted through AIQ Rounds 1, 2, or 3 or the AIQ Stray Round.
- Candidates who resigned or discontinued their MBBS/BDS courses after 14th October 2024.
- Candidates allotted seats in the AIQ Special Stray Round (results to be declared on 23rd November 2024).
Reasons for Special Stray Vacancy Round
- Unfilled Seats: Despite conducting four rounds of online counselling in adherence to the DGHS schedule and Supreme Court guidelines, several seats have not been filled.
- Additional Seats: Annaii Medical College received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) on 23rd October 2024 to increase its intake from 50 to 100 seats. The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University granted provisional affiliation for these additional seats on 15th November 2024. These newly added seats are now part of the seat matrix for this special round.
Important Guidelines
- Final Opportunity: This is the last phase of counselling, and candidates are advised to carefully consider their choices before submission. Failure to join the allotted course will result in forfeiture of the security deposit and tuition fee already paid.
- Strict Penalty for Non-Joining: Candidates failing to join the allotted seats in this special round will face the following penalties:
- Ineligibility for Tamil Nadu UG Medical Counselling for the next academic year.
- Loss of the security deposit and tuition fee.
- Requirement to pay a discontinuation fee.
