In light of the current situation, Savitribai Phule Pune University is working towards setting up a COVID-19 testing centre in its premises, said SPPU Vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar in a statement to the media.
Earlier, Savitribai Phule Pune University set up a separate quarantine ward as a precautionary measure at their premises to combat the COVID-19 situation.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university has mentioned that a ventilator has been developed by a university start-up, and necessary approvals and funding has been received for the same.
Meanwhile, On Saturday, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises held a webinar interaction with start-ups from Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Enterprises, SPPU.
Furthermore, a group of faculty members from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) have now begun to volunteer at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Pune COVID-19 Testing Centre.
To expand COVID-19 testing capability and pipeline output, SPPU will also be placing two RT-PCR machines for data validations at the IISER Pune COVID-19 Testing Centre', said a press release from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research.
