Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology Launches Anbu Scholarship Scheme for Underprivileged Students

New Delhi: The Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) has begun a new scholarship called the “Anbu Scholarship Scheme”. Spearheaded by SIST Chancellor Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, the Anbu Scholarship was created to help underprivileged students achieve the dream of pursuing higher education. 

The SIST scholarship applies to students who apply through verified NGOs, children of Indian defense personnel or war widows, children of destitute women or prison inmates, and children of non-teaching staff at SIST. The Anbu Scholarship will support the educational costs of the selected students, as well as food and hostel costs.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for SIST Chennai Anbu Scholarship 2024?

The eligibility criteria for the Anbu Scholarship is at least 70% marks in the 10+2 exams (there may be a relaxation for disabled students). The annual income of the student’s family must be less than INR 1 lakh. Students who play sports may also be given a full scholarship based on their performance.

The screening process for the scholarship includes a family background check, an analysis of the student’s performance in 10+2, and a test and a personal interview.

The SIST Chennai Anbu Scholarship 2024, named after the Tamil word for affection and care, is an opportunity for high-achieving students who lack financial support. The Anbu Scholarship is supported by organizations such as the Agaram Foundation, World Vision, Ability Foundation, Maatram, and the Tamilnadu Blind Association. 

SIST also selects the NGOs through which students can apply for the Anbu Scholarship. Every year the NGO must approach SIST through a facilitator and go through a detailed credibility check including the age of the NGO, the number of beneficiaries, and the values of the NGO.
