Sambalpur University has issued a notification inviting applications from eligible candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Unreserved (UR), and Scheduled Tribes (ST) for admission into its Ph.D. program for the academic year 2025.
The Research Eligibility Test of Sambalpur University (RETSU) will be held on February 28, 2025 (Friday) at 11:00 A.M. in the University Campus at Jyoti Vihar. The test will comprise multiple-choice questions and shall be 02 hours in duration.

Sambalpur University PhD Admission Schedule 2025
The application fee for the PhD admission at Sambalpur University is INR 2,000. Candidates can go through the table below for the full schedule of PhD:

Sambalpur University PhD Eligibility Criteria 2025
Candidates applying for the PhD admission will be required to complete the following eligibility criteria:
- Master's Degree in the relevant/allied subject with at least 55% marks from Sambalpur University or a recognized university.
- Relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/Differently-Abled candidates and those with a Master's Degree before September 19, 1991.
- Degrees from UGC/AIU/AICTE-recognized or foreign universities are acceptable.
- In-service candidates must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
- NOC must also be submitted during registration if transitioning to in-service status.
The assessment of the candidate in the Viva-Voce shall be primarily based on the candidate's subject knowledge, research interest, and communication skills. A candidate has to secure at least 15 marks out of 30 (i.e., 50%) to qualify for the viva voce examination.
