How Does the NMC 50 Percent Fee Cap Work?

NMC introduced this cap under Section 10(1)(i) of the NMC Act 2019. The guidelines were notified on December 29, 2021.

Under this rule, half of all seats must carry government-college fees. This applies to every private or deemed medical college. The remaining seats can be priced at the institutional rate.

Colleges cannot charge capitation fees in any form. The cap uses the fee rate of the college's home state. A Karnataka private college matches Karnataka government college fees.
