New Delhi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on February 20, 2024. During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate several significant projects, including AIIMS Jammu, the world's highest railway bridge over Chenab, and the Devika river project, marking north India's first river rejuvenation initiative in Udhampur.

Jitendra Singh desired the Prime Minister's visit before the election code of conduct commences. The scheduled program on February 20, 2024 will involve the inauguration of various projects, accompanied by a public address by the Prime Minister.

AIIMS Jammu, one of the projects to be unveiled, is set to commence operations by initiating outpatient department (OPD) services in around 50 specialities. The medical institute spans 226.84 acres of land on both sides of NH-44 near Vijaypur town in Samba district.

During a recent on-site inspection, Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh urged the AIIMS administration and the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to expedite the completion of the AIIMS project. This push aims to facilitate the formal inauguration at the earliest possible date.

Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted that the Central Government, under PM Modi's leadership, had sanctioned two AIIMS facilities for Jammu and Kashmir to enhance healthcare services in the Union Territory.

He emphasised that the early completion of the medical institute would allow the government to dedicate this premium healthcare facility to the people of Jammu division and surrounding areas. The projects, including the groundbreaking AIIMS Jammu, represent a significant stride towards bolstering infrastructure and healthcare facilities in the region.
