NTA to Announce JEE Main 2026 Exam Dates Soon; Session 1 Likely in January, Session 2 in April

JEE Main 2026 Exams Expected Dates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the JEE Main 2026 exam dates in the coming weeks. With the CBSE Class 12 tentative datesheet for 2026 already released on September 24, the schedule for JEE Main will be carefully aligned to avoid clashes with board examinations.

Session 1 is likely to be conducted before CBSE exams begin in mid-February, while Session 2 is expected after the board exams conclude in April. As per the academic calendar trends and CBSE board exam schedule, JEE Main 2026 Session 1 is expected in the last week of January 2026.

The test will be conducted in multiple shifts and days across the country. Since CBSE Class 12 exams begin on February 17, 2026, NTA will conclude Session 1 before that date to avoid overlaps.

JEE Main 2026 Exams Expected Dates

According to the CBSE Class 12 datesheet, the board exams will conclude on April 9, 2026. Following this, NTA is expected to conduct JEE Main 2026 Session 2 in mid to late April.

The registration process for Session 1 is likely to begin in November 2025, while the Session 2 application window is expected to open in the last week of February 2026.

Candidates will be required to complete the online form, upload documents, and pay the application fee through the official NTA portal.

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams February 17 – April 9, 2026

JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple shifts and days. Students can choose to appear in Session 1, Session 2, or both, with the best of two scores considered for the final result.

The exam primarily caters to Class 12 students seeking admission to B.Tech, B.E., or B.Arch programs in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutions.

Once the results of both sessions are announced, NTA will initiate the counselling process through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority).

Qualified candidates will be able to participate in centralized counselling for admission, while top-ranking students will also become eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2026.

Aspirants are advised to regularly check the official NTA website for announcements and complete their registration on time, starting November 2025 for Session 1.
