In accordance with these Regulations and any other NMC Regulations, there will be a unified counseling process for admission to postgraduate medical courses across all medical institutions in India, primarily determined by the merit list of respective examinations. It should be noted that this common counseling procedure may consist of multiple rounds as required, as specified in the regulations.
Furthermore, eligibility for enrollment in a 'Broad Specialty Post-Graduate Program in Medicine' will be determined based on the scores achieved in the common final year undergraduate examination referred to as the 'National Exit Test.' This test will be administered by the National Medical Commission or conducted under the authority of the National Medical Commission.
The regulations specify that the current admission process through the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Post-graduate (NEET-PG) in accordance with the Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 2000 (PGMER-2000) will remain in effect until the first batch eligible for admission to Broad Specialty programs through the National Exit Test (NExT) comes into play.
