NIT Goa PhD Admission Open for AY 2024-25; Apply by December 15

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa is inviting applications for its PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25 December session. The PhD program is offered in Full-Time (with scholarship), Part-Time, Self-Financed, and Sponsored programs. The last date for submitting online applications is December 15, 2024.

NIT Goa PhD Departments

NIT Goa offers PhD programs in the following departments:

• Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
• Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE)
• Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE)
• Civil Engineering (CVE)
• Mechanical Engineering (MCE)
• Applied Sciences (APS)
• Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)

NIT Goa PhD Eligibility Criteria

For Engineering and Technology (CSE, ECE, EEE, CVE, MCE):

• Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology (M.E./M.Tech.) with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 (60%) in both Bachelor's and Master's levels from a recognized institution
• For SC/ST candidates, a minimum of 6.0 CGPA (55%) is required
• Exceptional candidates with CGPA >= 9.0 in B.Tech./B.E. are also eligible

For Applied Sciences:

• Master’s degree in relevant sciences or M.Tech. with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 (60%) or 6.0 (55%) for SC/ST candidates

For Humanities & Social Sciences:

• Master’s degree in Humanities/Social Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 (55%) for general categories and 5.5 CGPA (50%) for SC/ST candidates

NIT Goa PhD Selection Procedure

Selection of the candidates at NIT Goa will be based on:

• Academic performance
• Written test conducted by the respective department
• Personal interview

Note: Shortlisted candidates will be published on the institute’s website. No separate intimation will be sent.

NIT Goa PhD Scholarship

Candidates with GATE, UGC, CSIR, NET, DST-INSPIRE, or other similar fellowships are eligible for scholarships.

NIT Goa PhD Application Process

• Applicants must apply through the online portal
• Applicants must fill/enter their CGPA or percentage of marks as issued by their Institute/University
• Online application once submitted by the applicants shall be considered final and binding
• Pay an application fee of INR 500 per department for Gen/OBC(NCL)/EWS applicants and INR 300 per department for SC/ST/PwD applicants
• Candidates can pay the application fee online using Debit/Credit Card/UPI/Net Banking etc
• Candidates are instructed to send the softcopy (PDF) of their finally submitted application (without enclosures) to phdadmissions@nitgoa.ac.in with the mail subject: “Ph. D Application December 2024 - User ID”.

Note: Requests for making corrections in the online application shall not be entertained once the final submission is made

NIT Goa PhD Documents Required

Applicants must prepare the following documents while submitting the online application:

• Passport-sized photograph
• GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET certificate (for Full-Time with scholarship)
• Master’s degree certificate or course completion certificate (if the result is awaited)
• Undergraduate degree certificate and marks sheet
• Certificate of Matriculation/ X class (for Age Proof)
• Category certificate (if applicable)
• Undertaking by the candidate on OBC-NCL status
• Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (if applicable)
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Employer/Industry
• Sponsorship Letter for Sponsored PhD Program
