The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has extended the last date for Round 1 choice filling and locking for the 2026 admission cycle. The official notification was issued on June 25, 2026 on the NIFT admissions portal at nift.admissions.nic.in. Candidates qualified through the NIFT 2026 entrance examination can now lock their campus and course preferences on the portal before the revised cut-off.

The extension benefits candidates who were unable to complete choice filling and locking within the original window. Choice filling determines the campus and programme a candidate is allotted in Round 1. Aspirants must log in using their NIFT 2026 application number and password to access the choice filling module.

NIFT 2026 Round 1 Counselling Important Dates

Candidates should refer to the latest notification on the official NIFT admissions portal for the exact revised cut-off date and time. The Round 1 seat allotment schedule remains unchanged.

Programmes Covered Under NIFT 2026 Counselling

The extended choice filling window applies to candidates qualified for the following NIFT programmes across all campuses:

• Bachelor of Design (B.Des)
• Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech)
• Master of Design (M.Des)
• Master of Fashion Management (MFM)
• Master of Fashion Technology (M.FTech)

Each programme is offered across multiple NIFT campuses in India. Candidates may select campus and programme combinations according to their order of preference.

How to Fill and Lock Choices on the NIFT Portal?

The choice filling module is available on the NIFT admissions portal, maintained by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

• Visit nift.admissions.nic.in.
• Click on the Candidate Login link.
• Enter your NIFT 2026 application number and password.
• Open the Choice Filling and Locking section.
• Select your preferred campus and programme combinations.
• Arrange the options in your order of preference.
• Review all choices carefully.
• Click on Lock Choices to confirm submission.
• Download and save the locked choice receipt for future reference.

Candidates are advised to add as many valid choices as possible to improve their chances of securing a seat in Round 1. Locked choices cannot be edited or modified after the deadline.

What Happens After Choice Locking?

After the revised choice locking deadline, NIFT will process all locked choices for Round 1 seat allotment. The seat allotment result is scheduled to be released on June 27, 2026 through the official NIFT admissions portal.

Candidates who receive a seat allotment must submit their willingness option, choosing one of the following:

• Accept and Freeze
• Accept and Upgrade
• Float

The seat acceptance fee must be paid by July 1, 2026 to confirm the allotted seat.
