The "Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023" have been published by NMC. On the basis of the NEET UG merit list, the commission has suggested common counselling for graduate degree admissions at all medical institutions in the nation.
New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) of India has proposed that it hold common counselling sessions for admission to graduate programmes across all of the nation's medical institutions under a recently published set of regulations.
The Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023 or GMER-23 were recommended by the body, and they stated that this joint session will be based on the NEET-UG merit list.
"Without prejudice to anything provided in the present Regulations or other NMC Regulations, there shall be common counselling for admission to graduate courses in medicine for all Medical Institutions in India based on the merit list of the NEET-UG," the NMC declared in a June 2 gazette announcement.
The Commission will supply the seating chart for the meeting and, if necessary, hold additional rounds.
The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) is scheduled to issue guidelines for the counselling, and the designated authority under section 17 below shall perform the counselling in accordance with the published rules.
The government will choose and inform its agency and method for all undergraduate seats, as well as designate a designated authority for the counselling process.
The new regulations state that no medical institution shall admit any candidate to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programme in violation of these rules.
