A major controversy erupted over NEET 2026 after a "guess paper" circulated in Rajasthan reportedly matched 600+ marks worth of questions from the actual exam.

A major controversy has erupted over the NEET 2026 medical entrance examination after a handwritten question set circulated on social media before the exam reportedly matched a large portion of the actual question paper. Student groups and parents have alleged a possible paper leak and demanded a high-level probe into the issue. The controversy began after the handwritten question set circulated on social media before the examination, with students comparing the document to the original NEET paper after the test concluded.
The Leak Allegations and Investigation
According to preliminary findings, nearly 600 marks worth of questions out of the total 720 marks reportedly matched the leaked material circulating before the exam. Investigators identified more than 300 handwritten questions related to Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the document. Officials confirmed that at least 140 questions directly appeared in the final examination, raising serious concerns about examination integrity. The leaked paper allegedly surfaced in Sikar district nearly two days before the exam, with copies initially sold for amounts ranging from INR 20,000 to INR 2 lakh.

The price reportedly dropped to INR 30,000 a day before the examination as the material spread rapidly. Police suspect the material spread through WhatsApp and other social media platforms, with thousands of students believed to have received the document before the test. During the investigation, officials identified an MBBS student from Jharkhand as a key suspect currently studying at a medical college in Kerala. He allegedly shared the material with a friend on May 1, from where the document reportedly spread through PG hostels, coaching centres, and career counselling networks.
Rajasthan SOG Probe Intensifies
The Rajasthan government and police launched an immediate investigation after the issue gained attention online following the exam. Special Investigation Teams have started probing the origin of the leaked material and possible links between coaching institutes and examination staff. The investigation revealed that the leaked paper allegedly surfaced in Sikar district nearly two days before the exam. Reports suggest copies were initially sold for amounts ranging from INR 20,000 to INR 2 lakh before the price dropped significantly.
Police suspect the material spread rapidly through WhatsApp and other social media platforms, reaching thousands of students before the test. Investigators are now tracking the distribution network and identifying all individuals involved in selling and sharing the leaked material. The probe has expanded to include coaching institutes and educational consultants suspected of profiting from the leaked questions. Officials are examining financial transactions and communication records to establish the complete chain of distribution.

Student Outrage and Demands
Students across the country have expressed concern over the credibility of the examination process following the leak allegations. Several student organisations have demanded cancellation of the exam if the leak is officially confirmed. The controversy has revived memories of the NEET 2024 disputes, which had triggered nationwide protests over examination transparency. Student groups argue that if questions were leaked before the exam, the results cannot be considered fair or valid.
Parents have also joined the outcry, demanding a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible for the leak. Many students who did not have access to the leaked material feel disadvantaged compared to those who benefited from advanced knowledge of questions. Educational experts have called for stricter security measures and oversight of the examination process to prevent future incidents. The controversy has raised serious questions about the integrity of India's most competitive medical entrance examination.
