NMC appoints Dr. B.N. Gangadhar as the new chairperson, Dr. Sanjay Behari as the new President, and Dr. Anil D’Cruz as the full-time member of PG Medical Education Board.

New Delhi: The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has made new appointments to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and its autonomous boards. These appointments will last four years or until the appointees turn 70, whichever comes first.

Dr. B.N. Gangadhar, Chairperson of the National Medical Commission

He is currently the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board and has been appointed Chairperson of the National Medical Commission. Dr. Gangadhar, the former director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), brings valuable mental health and medical administration expertise to his new role at the NMC.

Dr. Sanjay Behari, the New President for Medical Assessment and Rating Board

He was the director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, and will now serve as the new President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board. He is responsible for assessing and upholding the standards of medical education institutions nationwide.

His specialised neurosurgery knowledge and extensive medical education experience will significantly enhance the board's ability to evaluate and maintain high educational standards nationwide.

Dr. Anil D’Cruz, Full-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board

Dr. Anil D’ Cruz, the director of Oncology at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai, has been appointed a full-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board. This appointment will improve the quality and standards of advanced medical education in India.

Dr. Rajendra Achyut Badwe; Part-time UGC Board Member

Dr. Rajendra Achyut Badwe, Professor Emeritus at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, is appointed part-time Undergraduate Medical Education Board member for a two-year term, or until he reaches 70 years of age, or further notice, whichever is earlier. These appointments aim to enhance governance within medical education and assessment in India.
