Dr. Ravindra Dattatray Kulkarni has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University (MU).
New Delhi: Ravindra Dattatray Kulkarni has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, according to an order by the Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities Ramesh Bais. Additionally, Dr Suresh Wamangir Gosavi has also been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Prior to his appointment, Shirke completed his undergraduate studies at Vivekanand College, Kolhapur (1985), and pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of Statistics, Shivaji University, Kolhapur (1987). He began his career as a CSIR research fellow in 1987 and later joined the Department of Statistics in 1990.
From 2005 to 2015, he served as the head of the Department of Statistics. With approximately 30 years of teaching experience and 35 years of research experience, he has made significant contributions to his field. In addition, the Governor has announced the appointment of Dr. Sanjay Ghanshyam Bhave as the new Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth in Dapoli.
Prior to his role as Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University, Ravindra Dattatray Kulkarni held the position of senior professor at the Institute of Chemical Technology. Similarly, Professor Gosavi served as a senior professor at the Department of Physics in Savitribai Phule Pune University. Dr. Sanjay Ghanshyam Bhave currently holds the position of head of the Department of Agricultural Botany at Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth.
Mumbai University boasts a comprehensive academic infrastructure consisting of 56 departments, 12 specialized centers, 781 affiliated colleges, two main campuses, two sub-campuses, two model colleges, and the esteemed 'School of Engineering and Applied Sciences' at Kalyan, which operates as the university's independent Engineering College.
The university has already initiated the registration process for its undergraduate programs, with the deadline for completing the Mumbai University registration form 2023 set for June 12. Hence, interested candidates can go through the UG Application process and apply on or before the deadline.
