Mumbai Colleges Not to Consider CUET UG 2024, Admissions Via Class 12 Marks

New Delhi: This year, Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics and Mithibai College in Mumbai have decided not to consider the scores of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2024) for undergraduate admissions.

Instead, the revised admission policy of NMC College and Mithibai College specifies that the admissions for the academic year 2024 will be determined based on the marks obtained in the Class 12 board exams.

List of Courses Offered through Class 12 Marks

Mithibai College recently issued a notice stating that admissions to 13 undergraduate courses will solely be based on Class 12 marks. The list of first-year degree programs is available in the latest notification from the college:

In the previous academic year, Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institute of Science, and Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics had admitted students through CUET UG.

However, they have opted out of CUET this year, citing a misalignment between the national-level UG entrance exam schedule (between May 15 and May 31, 2024) and the timetable followed by Mumbai colleges.

Somaiya Vidyavihar University, a private institution that initially announced admissions through CUET UG, filled 90% of its seats through direct admission based on Class 12 board exam marks before CUET results were declared last year.

This year, Somaiya Vidyavihar University may consider CUET scores for admissions, as it expects an earlier declaration of results compared to the previous year.
