MAH LLB CET 2024 Eligibility Revised; Check Changes Made in 3-year LLB Admission Qualifications Here

New Delhi: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MH CET) Cell has issued a notification about students graduating from open universities with a preparatory exam. According to the now revised MAH LLB CET 2024 eligibility criteria, such individuals are now permitted to participate in the MH 3-year LLB admission 2024 Exam.

This decision was made after a significant modification in the MH LLB 3-year eligibility criteria by the Bombay High Court in 2022, which revoked the prohibition on graduates from open universities to engage in the centralised admission process. 

The CET Cell's latest notification declares, "Candidates who have completed their graduation through Open University with preparatory examination are allowed to complete the CET application form and to participate in the Centralized Admission Process for LLB 3 Yrs Course."

Applicants under this category must ensure timely completion of the MH 3-year LLB 2024 Application Form, with the deadline recently extended by the MAH CET Cell. Prospective candidates can submit their applications by accessing the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org, on or before February 10, 2024.

What is the Revised Eligibility Criteria for MAH LLB CET 2024?

The eligibility criteria for MH 3-year LLB CET underwent modification following a petition filed by Vishnu Harishchandre in 2021. Harishchandre, having completed his commerce bachelor's degree from Yashwantrao Chavan Open University, Nashik, in 2008, faced admission denial due to the Bar Council of India's (BCI) prior non-recognition of degrees obtained through distance education. 

However, the Bombay High Court's 2022 revision in eligibility criteria now allows aspirants who completed degrees through open universities to qualify for 3-year LLB admission.

According to the high court's directive, the CET Cell has confirmed that individuals obtaining qualifications of 10th, 12th (+2), and graduation through any mode, including Distance, Correspondence, or Open schooling, are eligible for LL.B.- 3 Year CET-2024. The MH LLB 3-year CET exam 2024 is scheduled for March 12 and 13.
