Kaziranga University, Assam, has officially opened PhD admissions for the January 2026 session across a wide range of disciplines. The admission process includes the Kaziranga University Entrance Test (KUEST) followed by a personal interview for shortlisted candidates.

Applications are being accepted through online mode, and eligible Indian as well as international candidates can apply. The university has released the complete schedule covering application dates, entrance test, interviews, final results, and course commencement.

The PhD Entrance Test (KUEST) will be conducted in offline mode for candidates within Assam. Candidates applying from outside Assam and international applicants will appear for the test in online mode. The orientation programme will be held offline, while the course work will begin in online mode as per the university schedule.

Kaziranga University is offering PhD programmes across multiple fields including Engineering, Science, Health Sciences, Management, and Social Sciences. Major disciplines include Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Management, and Social Sciences.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent UGC grade. Applicants with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree (minimum 75% marks) are also eligible. M.Phil holders with 55% marks can apply. A 5% relaxation in qualifying marks is applicable for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and Differently Abled candidates, as per norms.

Selection will be based on KUEST performance (70% weightage) followed by a personal interview (30% weightage). Candidates holding valid scores in CSIR-UGC NET, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, GATE, GPAT, or those with an M.Phil degree obtained in the last two years, are exempted from KUEST. However, appearing for the interview is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates.

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of ₹2,000 through online mode in favour of North-Eastern Knowledge Foundation, payable at Jorhat, Assam. Candidates must submit their UPI or Internet Banking transaction ID while filling out the online application form.
