Kazi Nazrul University PhD Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) from a UGC recognized University.
- Degrees considered as equivalent to M.Phil. from accredited Indian / foreign institutions are also eligible.
Who is exempted from the Written Test or KNU Research Eligibility Test (RET)?
Candidates who have cleared NET/SLET/SET/GATE/JEST/DST-INSPIRE/DBT-JRF/M.Phil are exempt from the written test but must attend the interview or viva voce conducted by the concerned department.
Kazi Nazrul University PhD Admission Procedure
The admission process of KNU PhD program includes a written test and interview/viva voce.
- Written Entrance Test (KNU-RET):
- Total: 100 marks (3 hours)
- Part-I: Research Methodology (50 marks)
- Part-II: Subject-specific (50 marks)
- Viva Voce: Minimum 50% is required in KNU-RET to qualify for the interview and candidates who have qualified/cleared M.Phil. (as per UGC Regulations)/NET/SLET/SET/GATE/JEST/DST INSPIRE/DBT-JRF, must also appear for the viva voce. All such qualified candidates will have to present their research proposal.
