JNU Decides to Add 'Tamso ma Jyotirgamaya' Motto to Its Logo for Patenting

JNU has decided to update its logo to include the 'Tamso ma Jyotirgamaya' motto, a decision approved during the Executive Council meeting on November 24, according to Vice-Chancellor Santishree Pandit. This change aims to be pursued for patenting.

New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru University's logo will undergo modification to incorporate the 'Tamso ma Jyotirgamaya' motto, and the university is set to register it for patenting, as announced by Vice-Chancellor Santishree Pandit.

The decision to update the old, unregistered logo of Jawaharlal Nehru University was approved during a meeting of the Executive Council held on November 24, 2023.

Vice-Chancellor Santishree Pandit clarified that there are no alterations being made. The previous logo was not registered. The decision to register the same logo with the university's motto was unanimously approved by the Executive Council.

Simultaneously, the JNU administration has initiated Roof waterproofing for numerous hostels experiencing leakage problems. JNU Registrar Ravikesh mentioned that the repairs and renovations are in progress for various hostels, the academic building, and staff quarters, with tenders already issued for these projects.

Further, the JNU Teachers' Association President DK Lobiyal added that roof Waterproofing is being implemented in several hostels.

The University Grants Commission assigned INR 28 crore to Jawaharlal Nehru University for diverse projects, including structural repair and renovation of academic buildings, hostels, and staff quarters last year.

In a significant event, during the convocation ceremony of the 145th course of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune's Habibullah Hall, a total of 204 cadets were awarded degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
