IIT Roorkee Offers Scholarships to UG

New Delhi: IIT Roorkee offers a variety of scholarships to deserving students enrolled in both UG and PG programs. These scholarships are introduced to support engineering and architecture students based on merit and financial need, including fee concessions and direct scholarship amount transfer to students' bank accounts.

IIT Roorkee offers scholarships to students enrolled in various Bachelor's degree programs in ten branches of Engineering and Architecture. The institute also provides Master's degree opportunities in fifty-five disciplines, including Engineering, Applied Science, Architecture, and Planning.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme for AY 2024-25

Candidates belonging to the General, General (EWS), or OBC category who are students of BTech, BArch, Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programs admitted through JEE (Advanced) 2024 can apply for the scheme.

To apply for the tuition fee waiver scheme, the candidate’s annual family income shall not exceed INR 5 lakh. The last date to apply for the scholarship is July 9, 2024. Check the key highlights of the scholarship scheme below:

  • Under the scheme, tuition fees will be completely waived if the candidate belongs to the economically disadvantaged section of society with an annual family income less than INR 1 lakh.
  • Students belonging to the EWS category with an annual family income between 1 lakh and 5 lakh will be eligible for a two-thirds waiver of total tuition fees.

What are the Various Scholarships Offered by IIT Roorkee?

The following are various scholarships offered by IIT Roorkee. Eligible candidates can apply for the program by contacting the college's authorities.

Merit Cum Means (MCM) Scholarship

The stipend is available for up to 25% of class strength. Under the scholarship, UG and M.Sc. students receive INR 1,000 monthly for ten months per academic year. The scholarship is available for courses of normal duration; dual degree courses will be available up to the fourth year.

Candidates applying for the scholarship must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must be from General, General (EWS), or OBC category.
  • Enrolled in BTech, BArch, Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), BS-MS programs (admitted through JEE Advanced) or MSc programs (admitted through JAM).
  • Parental income not exceeding INR 5 lakhs per year.
  • CGPA and YGPA of 7.00 or above (not applicable for fresh students).

INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE)

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) sponsors the scholarship. The scholarship will be granted based on Class 12th results (top 1% of respective boards) or top ranks in competitive exams such as JEE (Main) 2024, JEE (Advanced), NEET (AIPMT), and KVPY.

To renew the scholarship, the candidates must complete Integrated MSc programs (II to V year) in the Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics Departments. Parental income must not exceed INR 5 lakhs per year. First-year students of BS-MS and M.Sc./Int. M.Sc. programs that ranked above AIR 10,000 in JEE (Advanced)-2021/JAM-2022 are also eligible for renewal.

Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students Pursuing Engineering Education

The scholarship is designed for students in their first year of BTech. USD 1,000 per student will be awarded for the normal duration of the program (four years). Two-thirds of the Tuition Fee will be waived.

Applying candidates must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 at the end of each academic year. At least one scholarship must be awarded to a female student if she meets the eligibility criteria.

James Thomason (JT) Scholarship

Students of BTech, BArch, Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programs admitted through JEE Advanced are eligible for this scholarship. The accepted All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Advanced is up to AIR Rank 250.

Dr SK Goel and Mrs Kusum Goel Scholarship

Under the scholarship, the candidates will receive INR 2 lakh per year until the normal duration of the program. Candidates belonging to the general and OBC categories are eligible to apply.

The annual family income shall not exceed INR 6 lakhs. Applicants must have scored a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at the end of each academic year. Four students will be awarded this scholarship each year.
