IIT Patna completes Phase 1 Placements 2026 with 319 offers, strong recruiter participation, and a sharp rise in average salaries.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has successfully completed Phase 1 of Placements 2026 for its BTech programmes, recording 319 job offers in the first phase. The institute also confirmed that 84 students received Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) this year.
As per official data, IIT Patna consistently secures more than 400 offers every placement season, reflecting stable recruiter demand. The drive saw participation from top private firms and PSUs, with roles offered across technology, analytics, and core engineering domains.
According to the official placement report, the average CTC for BTech students increased to Rs 25.82 lakh per annum, registering a 17.66% year-on-year growth. A total of 319 students secured job offers during Phase 1. Several academic departments reported an increase in average and median salary figures compared to previous placement cycles, reflecting stronger compensation trends.
How Did MTech Students Perform in Placements 2026?
Postgraduate students also recorded encouraging outcomes. MTech students achieved an average CTC of over Rs 16.20 lakh per annum, marking a 7.32% rise compared to last year. Multiple specialisations witnessed better salary offers, underlining consistent demand for advanced technical and research-oriented skills among recruiters.

Students were hired for roles such as Software Development Engineer, System Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Generative AI Engineer, Product Engineer, Desk Quant Analyst, Consultant, and Business Analyst.
Apart from IT and analytics, there was a significant increase in hiring across manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and automotive sectors, including greater participation from public sector undertakings (PSUs).
The top recruiters during Phase 1 included Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Optum, L&T, Reliance, Media.net, Sprinklr, and Tata Advanced Systems. Key PSUs such as BEL, BPCL, and C-DOT also participated in the placement drive. The institute noted an improvement in recruiter diversity and job role quality this year.
The placement results were acknowledged by Director Prof. T. N. Singh, Registrar A. K. Thakur, and the Career Development and Training Committee (CCTC). The institute leadership congratulated students and faculty members and reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing industry collaboration and expanding career opportunities for students.
