Who Can Apply for These New Programmes?
Admission routes depend on the programme level. B.S. programmes are expected to admit students via JEE Advanced scores. M.Tech. programmes use Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores for admission.
M.Sc. programmes admit candidates through the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM). The M.A. in Public Policy may follow a separate admission procedure. Eligibility criteria for each new programme will be published at iitm.ac.in.
What Are the Non-Campus Programmes at IIT Madras?
Non-campus programmes allow students to earn an IIT Madras credential without relocating. Courses are delivered online or through hybrid formats. IIT Madras aims to expand quality education access across India through this mode.
Candidates who cannot move to Chennai can pursue these programmes from home. Working professionals and students in smaller cities stand to benefit. Application and enrolment details will be available on iitm.ac.in.
How to Apply for the New IIT Madras Programmes?
- Visit the official IIT Madras website at iitm.ac.in.
- Go to the Academics or Admissions section.
- Locate the new 2026-27 programmes page.
- Select your programme and note the specified admission route.
- Apply through the relevant national portal once applications open.
- Track your application status on the designated official portal.
IIT Madras is venturing beyond conventional engineering with this launch. The M.A. in Public Policy is a social science addition. IIT Madras is primarily a technical institution, making this an unusual step. The M.Sc. in Sports Analytics and AI is uncommon at an IIT. Few premier institutes in India offer this specialisation. The non-campus format extends IIT-level education to students across the country.
