IIT Kharagpur Placement 2025-26 Records 1,170 Offers in 3 Days; 5 Students Secure ₹2 Crore+ Packages

The 2025–26 placement season at IIT Kharagpur has started with very strong results. In the first few days of the placement drive, five students have received job offers of more than ₹2 crore per year. According to reports, the highest package so far is ₹2.5 crore per year, which is one of the biggest offers made on any IIT campus this year.

Companies from India and abroad have participated in large numbers. By the end of Day 3, IIT Kharagpur recorded 1,170 domestic job offers and 10 international offers. Many well-known recruiters visited the campus for roles in software engineering, data science, consulting, research, and finance.

According to the Career Development Centre (CDC), 634 offers were made to 613 students as of December 3, excluding PPOs. The Computer Science (CS) department leads with 100 offers, followed by Electronics and Communication (EC) with 61, and Chemical Engineering (CH) with 51 offers.

Interdisciplinary programmes together received 55 offers, with 21 offers going to Financial Engineering, 9 offers to Engineering Entrepreneurship, 22 offers to Artificial Intelligence, and 3 offers to Petroleum Engineering. In terms of course-wise distribution, Dual Degree students received the highest number of offers at 240, followed by B.Tech students with 214 offers, while M.Tech students secured 91 offers during this period.

This year, more than 3,000 students from BTech, dual degree, MTech, MS, and PhD programmes have registered for placements. Phase 1 of placements will continue until December 12, and many more companies are expected to visit the campus during this time.

IIT Kharagpur Placements 2025 – Key Highlights

Students say that most of these high packages have come from global tech companies that hire for advanced technical roles. Along with the new offers, many students have also received pre-placement offers (PPOs) based on their summer internships, which has improved the overall placement numbers.

The institute shared that placements are happening smoothly and more companies will visit in the coming days. This means students from different branches, including core engineering and new-age tech fields, will get more chances as the drive continues.
