IIT Kanpur’s recent event talked about its new initiatives for MedTech and healthcare. Establishing a new institute and hospital is pivotal for IITK’s endeavours to revolutionize medical sciences in India.
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK) has recently launched the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology and the Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital.
In an event held on March 15, 2024, at Kanpur’s Landmark Hotel, the launch is a step in IITK’s ambitions to revolutionize healthcare and MedTech. The event detailed the work to be undertaken by the Gangwal School and its vision and objectives.
It was also an opportunity for IITK to interact with stakeholders and people in the medical industry. The initiative is a way for IITK to contribute to advancing medical sciences and technology in India. Many dignitaries from the healthcare and MedTech fields graced the event like Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, Mr. A.K. Saraogi, President of J.K. Cements, and Mr. Atul Kapoor, MD, Regency Hospital.
Prof. S. Ganesh, in his speech at the event, talked about the importance of both institutes. “The establishment of the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology, and the Yadupati Singhania Super Specialty Hospital is a crucial milestone in our journey towards excellence in healthcare and medical innovation,” he said. “Occasions such as these events provide us with an opportunity to connect with the industry and paving the way for pioneering advancements.” He expressed confidence in the institutes, saying, “The contributions from the industry visionaries of the state embody IIT Kanpur's commitment to excellence, and we are confident that their impact will resonate globally.”
Mr. A.K. Saraogi also spoke at the event. He said, "The Gangwal School will usher in a revolution in the medical field in the city of Kanpur, akin to the transformative impact IIT had in the engineering domain when it was established in the 1960s.”
