IIT Kanpur and NMTronics to Launch CoE for Manufacturing and Skill Development

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) and NMTronics India Pvt Ltd have collaborated to launch 'NMTronics Center of Excellence for Electronics Manufacturing and Skills Development’. This collaboration seeks to narrow the gap between academia and industry by enhancing research, innovation, and skill enhancement in electronics manufacturing.

Scheduled to commence operations by August 2024 at the IIT Kanpur campus, the centre is poised to complement IIT Kanpur's academic curriculum, offering advanced certification programs for industry professionals. It will serve as a site for New Product Introduction (NPI) for startups and small businesses.

Key Highlights of IIT Kanpur and NMTronics Center of Excellence

The IIT Kanpur and NMTronics Center of Excellence aims to advance semiconductor technologies, embedded systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI), translating theoretical manufacturing concepts into tangible reality, according to the institute.

NMTronics India will contribute technical expertise and provide access to its cutting-edge facilities for collaborative projects with IIT Kanpur. The centre will feature state-of-the-art technology, including a fully automated Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line, promoting research and development collaboration and advanced learning through IIT Kanpur's programs.

Views on IIT Kanpur Collaboration with NMTronics India

Underscored the center's role in fostering industry-academia partnership, IIT Kanpur's Director, S Ganesh stated that the collaboration exemplifies their commitment to driving socio-economic development through research and collaboration with the industry.

Soni Saran Singh, Managing Director of NMTronics India Pvt, spoke at the event and expressed the initiative's commitment to driving innovation and creating value by harnessing the collective expertise of academia and industry to fuel technological advancements in the electronic industry. 

Kantesh Balani, Dean of Resources and Alumni at IIT Kanpur, highlighted the centre's role in promoting robust industry-academia engagement and emphasised its pivotal role in training manpower with current industry practices for the electronic industry.
