IIT Kanpur and NTRAX will work together on researching and designing solutions for sustainable technology to reduce vehicular emissions and improve the automobile industry.
New Delhi: IIT Kanpur and National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX) signed an MoU to work together on Real Drive Emission (RDE) and Emission Norms. The collaboration between IIT Kanpur and NATRAX aims to research Vehicular Emissions and come up with solutions for automobile battery disposal, transportation safety, and engine and flex fuels.
The MoU was signed by NATRA Director Dr Manish Jaiswal and IIT Kanpur’s Dean of Research & Development Prof. Tarun Gupta on April 22, 2024. The two institutes will also jointly develop internship programs for IIT Kanpur students at NATRAX.

Prof. Tarun Gupta expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, saying, " Vehicular emissions are a critical area to be addressed for cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions. By combining [our resources], we can accelerate the development of innovative solutions to meet the future needs of the automotive industry."
Dr. Manish Jaiswal also spoke at the event, saying, "This collaboration will focus on developing technologies and platforms that can assist the industry in the design and real-time test analysis of any automotive vehicle.” He also further clarified how the test analysis of automotives will be done. “The physical test of an automobile shall involve fact-checking, data analysis, and content curation,” he said.
