IIT-ISM Dhanbad Launches B.Tech in Math and Computing; Admission to be done through JEE Advanced Scores

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-ISM Dhanbad) has launched a new B.Tech in Math and Computing Course from the academic session 2024-25. The admission to the course will be based on JEE Advanced Scores.

The four-year B.Tech course aims to delve into the realms of Mathematics and Computational Sciences. The Department of Math and Computing at IIT Dhanbad will design this comprehensive course, intertwining theoretical understanding with hands-on practical applications.

During the assembly of the Board of Governing (BOG) at IIT Dhanbad, the decision to launch this course was taken after considering the increasing number of students in the five-year course. The board has decided to launch the course. Chaired by Prof. Premvrat, the BOG meeting saw the presence of key figures including Prof. JK Patnaik, the Executive Director, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, the Deputy Director, and other esteemed board members.

This course is launched to enroll students with a great skill set, solid mathematical theories, and computational thinking. After initiating the BEC (Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computing) course for BS-MS from 2025-2026, the authority has decided to launch another comprehensive program: the five-year integrated Bachelor of Science, Master of Science course, commencing from 2025-26. This course is designed to test the candidates’ skills in Biology alongside Physics and Chemistry.

Currently, IIT Dhanbad offers a comprehensive five-year integrated M.Tech program in Mathematics and Computing.
