This early admission pathway is designed for meritorious final-year BTech students from IITs, NITs, and select institutes, offering a direct route into postgraduate studies beginning July 2026.

IIT Gandhinagar has declared the provisional shortlist for candidates selected to appear in the written test and/or interview for its Early Admit MTech Program 2026-27. The selection process has already started and will continue until November 15, 2025.
IIT Gandhinagar’s Early Admit MTech route accepts final-year BTech (or equivalent) students from IITs, NITs and a list of select colleges (check with your HOD/Director).
Eligibility Criteria
For NIT students:
To qualify, candidates must secure a CPI/CGPA of 8.0 or above for General/EWS/OBC categories and 7.5 or above for SC/ST/PwD categories by the end of the third year. Alternatively, students placed within the top five ranks in their department (General/EWS/OBC) or top ten (SC/ST/PwD) at the end of the pre-final year may also be considered, even if they do not meet the CGPA requirement.
For IIT students:
Students from IITs are eligible with a minimum CPI/CGPA of 6.0 at the end of the third year.
For select listed colleges:
Candidates must secure a position within the top five in their department (General/EWS/OBC) or top ten (SC/ST/PwD) in the pre-final year and must obtain official certification from their respective institutions.
A rank certificate issued by the Head / Principal / Director of the applicant’s institute (use the template on the application portal) is mandatory and must be uploaded with the online form. Candidates may contact admission@iitgn.ac.in to check eligibility or college inclusion.

There is NO application fee.
According to official notification, the selection process will use an interview supplemented by a written test if required; departments will notify shortlisted candidates of the mode (online/offline) and exact timings.
Test/interview window runs November 1–15, 2025. Final offers are based on academic record, written test (if any), interview performance and rank verification; reserved-category relaxations apply as per rules.
Admitted scholars receive ₹12,400 + ₹3,000 per month if they hold a valid GATE score; those without GATE receive ₹6,000 per month.
The Early Admit cohort will follow the same curriculum and regulations as the regular MTech programme, with the academic session scheduled to begin in July 2026.
