IIT Delhi has been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for its unwavering commitment and efforts to promote gender equity in STEM with the prestigious title of "GATI Achiever" for the Gender Advancement

IIT Delhi has rexognized as GATI Achiever

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has been recognized as a "GATI Achiever" by the Gender Advancement for Transforming Institutions (GATI) in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

IIT Delhi journey towards becoming a "GATI Achiever" has been marked by various initiatives and measures designed to support and encourage women students and faculty members.

This program has been launched by DST in collaboration with British Council, which aims to promote higher education and research institutions to ensure gender equality in STEM. 

IIT Delhi’s contribution towards promoting gender diversity and empowering women in STEM disciplines was appreciated by the "GATI Achiever" award. According to the Prof. Angelie Multani, Dean, of Diversity and Inclusion, IIT Delhi, "IIT Delhi is spearheading various initiatives to increase the representation of women and other marginalized categories among its students and faculty members. This award reaffirms our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated and all voices are heard".

IIT Delhi conducts extensive self-assessment, proposing meaningful action plans to address the gender gap and barriers women face in STEM. Institute also promotes various initiatives, including the hiring and retention of women faculty at the department level, gender sensitization workshops, and family-friendly policies.

IIT Delhi is not only establishing accessible infrastructure for a diverse and inclusive campus, transcending the gender binary, but it is also being commended by DST for leading positive change and inspiring others to do the same.
