IIMB's NSRCEL Collaborates with GPS Renewables for 'Campus Founders' Startup Program

New Delhi: The NSRCEL at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has partnered with GPS Renewables for the second edition of ‘Campus Founders’, a 4-month program to nurture startup founders and recent graduates in their entrepreneurial pursuits. GPS Renewables was founded by two IIMB alumni, Mainak Chakraborty and Sreekrishna Sankar.

Applications for the Campus Founders program are open till April 15, 2024. This collaboration is significant as GPS Renewables was established 12 years ago by two IIMB graduates, one of whom initiated a company while still a student on the campus.

The program will emphasise innovative solutions in sustainability, climate change, and hardware development. It will span four months to accommodate students' academic commitments. Participants with startup ideas or working prototypes will progress from exploring Minimum Viable Products (MVP) to establishing product-market fit.

In addition to hands-on mentorship and workshops, participants will engage with experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts throughout the program, guiding them on their entrepreneurial journey.

The overarching goal is to establish entrepreneurship as an attractive and sustainable career path for recent graduates and foster an environment where college alumni can transition into CEOs of their ventures.

Mainak Chakraborty, CEO and co-founder of GPS Renewables expressed that the program aligns with the company's commitment to climate-forward and sustainability-focused innovations.

He emphasised that the initiative would empower young entrepreneurs through expert mentorship, resources, and a supportive network, facilitating the transformation of innovative ideas into impactful solutions addressing sustainability and climate change challenges.

The previous cohort incubated 16 companies across various sectors, such as Deep Tech, Agritech, Health, and Consumer. These entrepreneurs, hailing from six states and five institutions, have substantially contributed to their industries.

By the program, participants must have acquired comprehensive knowledge to refine their business models, establish revenue streams, devise growth-driven product roadmaps, secure funding, and cultivate a loyal clientele. The program also aims to instil accountability and resilience, enabling participants to create and manage their entrepreneurial endeavours effectively.
