New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has invited visually challenged working professionals to its workshop on ‘Leadership and Strategic Thinking for Social Sector’. The workshop is going to be held from February 19 to 21, 2024.
Participants in the program will learn about concepts and trends in a variety of topics, from traditional management topics and critical aspects like "Overcoming Self-limiting Beliefs," "Understanding an Expansive Self," "Governance and Compliance Issues in NGOs," and "Capacity Planning and Bottleneck Analysis” to more modern management and leadership topics pertaining to the current social media and technological era. Included are subjects like "AI and Technology Leadership" and "Leading in Social Media Era."
In addition to guest lecturers with backgrounds in a variety of academic fields, roughly seven faculty members from IIMA and the Blind People's Association (BPA) have gathered to lead sessions for the attendees on a variety of topics. "I am happy to see the turnout this year for the program, an initiative we launched last year with the sole purpose of providing an opportunity to empower professionals who have overcome obstacles and earned their place here through resilience, determination, and hard work," Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA, said in remarks during the inaugural session.
Faculty at IIMA are adapting course material and instruction to meet the unique needs of the participants in a way that will maintain a straightforward, approachable, and efficient teaching-learning process. The program is made by IIMA faculty member and Dr Lal PathLabs Chair in Healthcare at IIMA, Professor Rajesh Chandwani. The program aims to equip the participants with knowledge and skills that will groom them to take leadership roles. This is the second batch of the program.
Prof. Rajesh Chandwani said, "We had a really successful program last year." It opened the faculty members' eyes as well. We became aware that we were attempting to overcome our own self-limiting views and learn how to comprehend other perspectives as we were talking with the participants about overcoming self-limiting beliefs and taking multiple perspectives. Many research initiatives have resulted from our program from the previous year, based on the lessons we learned.
