IIM Sambalpur hosted a special lecture led by the Research and Innovation System in collaboration with the G20 University Connect Program to groom future business leaders with global awareness and leadership skills.
New Delhi: Under the banner of the G20 University Connect Programme, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has hosted a specialized lecture focusing on the G20 Presidency.
The IIM Sambalpur program's primary aim is to foster global awareness and nurture the leadership potential of future business school students regarding global issues, as they are the leaders of tomorrow.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Research and Innovation System (RIS) and has already left a significant mark by involving 65 universities from various states and union territories.
It actively engages a multitude of students in this endeavor. The event was inaugurated with an official video presentation, providing an insightful introduction to India's G20 Presidency theme for the year 2023.
Following the Special Lecture, the keynote speaker, Former Ambassador J K Tripathi, IFS (Retd.), a distinguished diplomat of the Government of India, elaborated on the significance of India's role in the G20 Presidency.
Highlighting this platform offers India an opportunity to lead the world in various sectors, particularly highlighting India's pioneering position in the digital economy, he pointed out that fewer than 50 countries worldwide have access to a digital economy or digital payment system.
Tripathi went on to state that the substantial discussions within the G20 Summit concerning trade practices, supply lines, and supply chain matters. These discussions have led to effective implementations in these areas. Furthermore, India has proposed changes in the rules and regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) to directly benefit emerging markets, developing countries, and developing economies at various levels.
The former Ambassador also provided insights into the G20's history, noting that it is a unique international organization that encompasses members from the G7, BRICS, and other significant international bodies. This characteristic positions the G20 as a bridge connecting prosperous and developing nations.
