New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIM Rohtak) has collaborated with Jagat Punjabi Sabha to conduct the 16th World Punjabi Conference in New Delhi. The two-day event was held at the United Service Institution of India on February 24-25, 2024.
The chief guest of the valediction ceremony was Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa, with Guest of Honor National Commission for Minorities Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura. The event highlighted the contribution of the Punjabi community to the world stage.
The event was attended by Amit Singh Bagga, co-founder, CEO, and CMO of Daryaganj Restaurants; MP Hans Raj Hans; former Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodi; Prof. Nathu Puri, Founder, Purico Group; Harinder Singh Sikka, Group Director, Piramal Group; and Lord Rami Ranger, CBE, Founder, Sun Mark and Sea Air & Land.

Rana Gurmit Singh highlighted the contribution of Punjab to the green revolution. He also elaborated on the Punjabi community actively participating in sports fields, reminiscing about his experiences as a shooter and former sports minister.
In his speech, Hans Raj Hans referred to Punjab as "a diamond in the Indian crown" and asked farmers to stick to the Green Revolution's principles. The Director of IIM Rohtak, Professor Dheeraj Sharma, gave a speech about the Punjabi community's role in the Indian armed forces.
He mentioned that Maj Somnath Sharma, a Punjabi, was the first to win the Param Vir Chakra and that Gurtej Singh, another Punjabi, was the most recent to win the Vir Chakra in 2020 for his actions during the Galwan conflict with China.
