IIM Jammu Organises Bicycle Rally To Mark “World Bicycle Day”; Check Details Here

New Delhi: In honour of World Bicycle Day, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu hosted a bicycle rally on June 3, 2023. The Institute organised a bike rally, and a big contingent of the teachers, employees, and students showed up and took part. 

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India each had a mandate for organising the event. The objectives of the rally were to create a vibrant community, a better way of life, and to protect the environment.

The director of IIM Jammu, Prof. B. S. Sahay reaffirmed the importance of both physical and mental health and fitness for all citizens to lead fulfilling lives. "IIM Jammu has always encouraged the cycling culture among the faculty, staff, and students to create a wellness environment at the institute by giving equal importance to health and fitness through the regular practise of sports, cycling, and yoga," he continued. He added that "World Bicycle Day" highlights bicycle benefits and strives to have people riding bicycles more frequently.

Prof. Jabir Ali, dean of academics at IIM Jammu, believes that more individuals should utilise bicycles for their health and well-being. He went on to argue that by lowering the usage of cars, which in turn lowers the consumption of petrol and diesel and, eventually, saves nature, cycling not only benefits the environment but also improves our health. Encouraging bicycle culture will enhance environmental and health protection in a country with our size population.

The community of IIM Jammu actively called for people to make a resolution to integrate physical activity daily in their regular lives through the celebration of World Bicycle Day at IIM Jammu. The goal of the cycling rally was to promote cycling as a way to combat both global warming and an unhealthy lifestyle, as well as to foster a sense of camaraderie and nationality. 

The IIM Jammu fraternity's bicycle rally came to a successful conclusion and was followed by refreshments. The office of Student Affairs managed the entire event.
