New Delhi: IIM Indore has started the first group of ANVESHAN, a campaign program through which 26 government Municipal Commissioners will learn about waste management. These officials will join the four-day program from 14 different states in India.
During the 4-day “Centre of Excellence for Waste Management and WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) - ANVESHAN” program at IIM Indore, officials will learn new ways to manage waste from different parts of India. They will take this knowledge back to their states and use advanced waste management techniques.
The first group of ANVESHAN consists of government officials from different states like Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Assam, Haryana, Maharashtra, Tripura, Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh and from few other states.
ANVESHAN Program aims to teach government officials about waste management so they can make their cities cleaner and greener. The program will also teach about how to handle wet and dry waste, how to behave well, and do research.
The Head of IIM Indore, Professor Himanshu Rai, said, "We want to teach and help mayors, councillors, and policy-makers in important areas like waste management and WASH. Our training will make them better and give them the skills they need to make good changes in their communities."
Rai talked about how important JAN BHAGIDARI is in maintaining hygiene in Indore. He gave an example of geese flying in a group, taking turns to save energy. This shows how we should trust each other and support each other when needed.
He further stated that "As part of their plan, Anveshan wants to make important certificate programs that can be done at different times and create a special 'IIM Indore Rating for Cleanliness' for hotels and hospitals. This will show how clean and hygienic they are."
