Team Horizon of IIM Bangalore won the first edition of SOAR (Spirit of Aviation Reimagined), Air India. Team JMH of IMT Ghaziabad emerged as 1st Runners-Up, while the 2nd Runners-Up were the teams Republic of Restless, IIM Shillong.

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, Team Horizon from IIM Bangalore won the title of National Champion in the first edition of Air India’s business challenge-based annual nationwide B-school competition titled SOAR (Spirit of Aviation Reimagined).

Following Team Horizon of IIM Bangalore, Team JMH from IMT Ghaziabad was the First Runners-Up in the Air India New SOAR Contest and the Second Runners-Up were the Republic of Restless from IIM Shillong and Horizon team from IIFT.

The winning team was selected through a detailed review process by a high-level panel made up of senior Air India officials. The team of IIM Bangalore was given $1,000, two round-trip airline tickets from London to Paris, and a Taj Stay voucher for each team member. 

The first runners-up team of IMT Ghaziabad was given a cash prize and two round-trip tickets from Goa to Kerala as well as a Taj Stay voucher for each member. Each participant of the second-runner-up teams received a Taj Stay voucher and a cash prize.

SOAR was launched in August 2023 and it has received over 7,100 registrations from B-Schools all around the country. The competition included an all-day brainstorming session to find answers to the real-world problems facing the airline industry, including marketing, baggage management, technological problems, and cultural issues.

It aims to connect with young talent and create strong leadership for the future. The students are given a glimpse inside Air India's transformation process as a way to motivate them to join the new Air India through Air India's university outreach program.

Dr Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Chief Human Resources Officer, Air India, said, “Air India is actively reimagining its role in the aviation sector, and our journey to top campuses in the country is more than just a recruitment drive”.
