Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started fresh admissions for the January 2026 session for its Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes. The last date to submit applications is 31 January 2026.

Students interested in pursuing UG, PG, diploma, and certificate courses can apply online through the official admission portal. The application fee for IGNOU January 2026 admissions is INR 300, which is non-refundable.

IGNOU programs' fees vary based on the course: certificate courses cost between INR 2,500 and 5,000, diplomas between INR 10,000 and 15,000, degrees between INR 20,000 and 40,000, and master’s programmes between INR 30,000 and 60,000 for the full course. Reserved category students are eligible for a 25%-45% fee relaxation.

IGNOU ODL Programs Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility depends on the level of the program:

For undergraduate (UG) courses like BA, BCom, and BSc, applicants must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board.

For postgraduate (PG) courses, a bachelor’s degree is required. Diploma and certificate courses require at least 10+2 or a graduation degree, depending on the specific course. There is no age limit for most ODL programmes, making them accessible to learners of all backgrounds.

IGNOU ODL Programs Admission 2026-How to Apply?

Applicants should follow these steps:

  • Visit the official IGNOU admission portal: ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.
  • Click on the “Register Online” tab and select “Fresh Admissions.
  • ”Click “New Registration” and fill in the required details.
  • Set a username (8–16 characters) and password (alphanumeric, 8–16 characters).
  • Submit the form and note down the login details sent via email and SMS.
  • Log in using the credentials and fill in the application form.
  • Upload scanned copies of the photograph (less than 100 KB), signature (less than 100 KB), educational qualification (less than 200 KB), experience certificate (if any, less than 200 KB), and category certificate (if SC/ST/OBC, less than 200 KB).
  • Pay the application fee using a credit card, debit card, or net banking. Review and apply.
