The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for Re-registration for the January 2026 session. Existing students who need to register for their next year or semester now have until March 15, 2026, to complete the process.

Unlike previous extensions, this final window requires the payment of a ₹200 late fee in addition to the regular programme fee. This applies to all students enrolled in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Diploma programmes offered through both ODL and Online modes.

IGNOU January Session Re-registration 2026 Requirement

For a student to successfully re-register, he or she must meet the following:

• Enrollment Status: The student must already be enrolled in an IGNOU program and be eligible to move to the next academic cycle.
• Portal: The process must be completed via the official Samarth Re-registration portal.
• Payment: He or she must pay the programme fee plus the ₹200 penalty using digital payment methods (Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI).
• Course Selection: During the process, the student is required to choose their elective or optional subjects for the upcoming year.
