Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has opened online applications for the B.Ed 2026 entrance test until May 11, 2026. The objective-type entrance examination will be conducted on May 23, 2026 (Saturday) for admission to two-year B.Ed courses across.

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla has invited online applications for the B.Ed Common Entrance Test (CET) 2026 for admission to two-year regular B.Ed courses in the Department of Education and private colleges affiliated with HPU and Sardar Patel University, Mandi for the academic session 2026-27.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official portal and admissions.hpushimla.in from April 4, 2026 to May 11, 2026. The entrance examination will be held on May 23, 2026 (Saturday) in an objective-type (MCQ) format.

The entrance test is mandatory for all graduates seeking admission to the two-year B.Ed program. The examination will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark, with a total duration of two hours.

There is no negative marking in the test. The minimum qualifying marks are 35% (53 out of 150 marks) for general candidates and 30% (45 out of 150 marks) for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates. The standard of the examination is at graduation level.

The application fee is Rs. 1,600 for General/EWS/IRDP/BPL/OBC and their sub-categories, while SC/ST and their sub-categories (BPL/IRDP) candidates need to pay Rs. 1,050. Candidates must apply online; no offline applications will be accepted.

HPU has reserved 85% seats for bona fide Himachal Pradesh residents and 15% seats for candidates from other states. Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria: a bachelor's degree with a minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped) from a recognized university.

The entrance test comprises five sections: General Awareness (30 questions), Language & Comprehension in Hindi and English (40 questions), Logical Reasoning (20 questions), Knowledge of National Commission & Committees of Education (20 questions), and Teaching Aptitude & Attitude (40 questions).

Admit cards will be available for download from the university website hpuniv.ac.in on May 19, 2026. No physical admit cards will be sent by post. Candidates must download their admit cards and bring them to the examination center along with a valid identity proof.

Candidates appearing for the entrance test must bring a cardboard or clipboard for writing on the answer sheet, as the examination hall may not have smooth writing surfaces. Only blue or black ball-point pens of good quality are permitted.

Electronic gadgets, including calculators, mobile phones, digital watches with calculator functions, and pagers, are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall. The examination will commence at 11:30 AM, with entry into the examination hall closing at 11:00 AM. Candidates must arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled test time.

After the entrance test, the answer keys will be moderated by a committee of subject experts constituted by the Vice-Chancellor. The result will be declared on June 9, 2026 (tentative), followed by the merit list on June 16, 2026 (tentative).

Online counselling will be conducted subsequently, and the schedule will be notified separately on the university website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official website for counselling updates and admission procedures.
