New Delhi: Goa Medical College has planned to add 70 more MBBS Seats, thus increasing the total number of seats to 250 from 180. Alongside this, GMC also plans to add new PG Medical courses and increase PG Medical Seats in various departments. 

GMC is planning to add new super specialty courses like MCh Pediatric Surgery, Hand Surgery, and DM Neurology and increase seats in Postgraduate Medical Courses such as MS, MD, and DM in departments of anesthesiology, psychiatry, and surgery.

GMC also aims to start new postgraduate courses in specializations such as Emergency Medicine, Critical Medicine, Physical Medicine, and Rehabilitation.

Earlier, GMC (affiliated with Goa University) had 180 MBBS Seats, 14 super-specialty seats, and 121 PG Medical seats in various courses and departments. 

NMC had also permitted the addition of 10 super specialty courses in 6 departments. The college also wishes to offer a DM Medical Oncology course and an OPD for oncology patients. 

The officials also mentioned the “courses are highly job-oriented. After getting their degrees, the students need not go outside the state for jobs”. The Dean of the Institute, also mentioned that they have applied to the NMC to start new PG medical courses and are awaiting approval for the same.
