IIT Madras has extended the GATE 2027 registration deadline. Candidates can now apply without a late fee until October 5 2026. Late applications will be accepted till October 12, 2026 on gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

GATE 2027 Registration Deadline Extended to October 5

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has extended the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 registration deadline. Candidates can now submit the application form without a late fee until October 5, 2026. The earlier deadline was September 27, 2026. The notice was published on the official portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

Applications submitted after October 5 will be accepted with a late fee. The final cut-off with the late fee is October 12, 2026. All registrations are processed through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian nationals this year.

GATE 2027 Application Fee

The GATE 2027 application fee is charged per test paper selected. The regular fee applies until October 5, 2026. A flat late fee of Rs 500 is added after that date.

The fee can be paid online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable to another candidate.

GATE 2027 Exam and Paper Options

IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027 across three weekends in February 2027. Candidates can appear in one or two test papers. A total of 30 test papers are on offer this year. GATE 2027 will be held only at domestic centres. No international examination cities are being offered.

Why This Matters

GATE scores are used for M.Tech admissions at IITs, NITs and IIITs. They are also accepted for recruitment by several public sector undertakings such as IOCL, GAIL and BHEL. A valid GATE 2027 scorecard opens both higher study and PSU job doors for three years.
