The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has extended the registration window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 without any late fee. Candidates who have not yet applied for GATE 2026 must complete their registration through the official portal, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, before October 6, 2025. Applicants are required to log in using their Enrollment ID and password to access the portal and submit their forms.
The GATE 2026 application without a late fee can be submitted until October 6, 2025. For those who miss this date, applications will still be accepted until October 9, 2025, with a late fee of ₹500. The exam dates are February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, and the results will be announced on March 19, 2026.

GATE 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognised institution. Students in their third year or higher in these programs are also eligible to apply.
The qualifying degree must be recognised by the Ministry of Education (MoE), AICTE, UGC, or UPSC and considered equivalent to professional programs such as BE, B.Tech, B.Arch, or B.Planning.
How to Apply for GATE 2026?
The GATE 2026 application process is completely online. Candidates must follow these steps to complete their registration:
Step 1: Visit the official GATE 2026 website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in and access the application portal.
Step 2: Register with your personal details, then fill in the required information, upload supporting documents, and pay the application fee. The fee is ₹2000 for General and OBC candidates, and ₹1000 for SC/ST/PwD and female candidates.
Step 3: After submitting the form, candidates should download and save the confirmation page for future reference. This page serves as proof of successful registration and may be required for future communication regarding the exam.

Candidates should have the following documents ready before starting the process:
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- Scanned Signature
- Valid Photo ID- Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID, PAN or Driving License
- Degree, Provisional Certificate, or final year mark sheet
- Category Certificate for Sc/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD (If applicable)
