Duolingo English Test Certificate Details
The Duolingo English Test (DET) Certificate gives a comprehensive overview of your English language proficiency scores. It provides a detailed breakdown of your performance in various language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Once the candidate completes the DET test, the result certificate is sent to the candidate’s account within 2 days of giving the test. It is important to note that the result is not shared by physical mail, hence one should be checking their email account in order to receive the result. Each certificate is given a unique URL that can be used to verify the authenticity of a result. These can be printed or saved.
The test certificate includes the following test information:
- Name of the test taker
- Date the test was taken
- Overall score - on a scale out of 160 in 5 point increments
- Subscores - on a scale out of 160 in 5 point increments
- Literacy - the test taker’s ability to read and write
- Conversation - the test taker’s ability to listen and speak
- Comprehension - the test taker’s ability to read and listen
- Production - the test taker’s ability to write and speak
- "Your score range" - indicates the standard error of measurement which represents the score range in which the test taker's true level of ability lies.
If a candidate scores above 120, it is considered to be a good score, by most universities. The certificate is digitally signed and includes security features. Candidates may send their certificate to an institution through “englishtest.duolingo.com” then click “MY RESULTS”, and then click "SEND SCORE." This is the official way one can send their score to an institution. With the DET, candidates can share their DET results with as many institutions as they want and that too for free!
The Duolingo English Test Validity Period
Understanding the validity period of your DET Certificate is crucial for planning your academic or professional journey. The Duolingo English Test certificate is valid for a period of two years from the date of the exam. After two years, candidates will be able to see their expired results on the homepage, but they will no longer be able to share the results or view the certificate. When applying to colleges, universities, or immigration processes, it is advised for candidates to remember their Duolingo English Test validity time.
DET Score Acceptance
One of the strengths of the Duolingo English Test lies in its wide acceptance. More than 4500 universities, colleges, and institutions around the world recognize and accept the DET scores as proof of English language proficiency. Some of the top institutions that accept the DET scores include Harvard University, University of California, Stanford, University of Arizona, MIT, and the University of Toronto among others.
A candidate's score describes their overall English language abilities and also helps in the visa process for some countries. The table mentioned below describes the candidates abilities corresponding to different score levels based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or CEFR, an international standard of language proficiency. The CEFR framework describes six levels of language proficiency, each with increasing complexity. Below you can find ranges of scores on the Duolingo English Test that correspond to each level.

| 60-95 | B1 |
| 100-125 | B2 |
