Being a faculty member of the Management Studies Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

So basically, the primary duty of a faculty, I believe, is to create an atmosphere of learning and thereby promote the academic activities in the department. In essence, a faculty member's core responsibility is to cultivate an environment conducive to learning and research, nurturing a vibrant academic community within the department.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

Now I believe that I should know, and establish a healthy relationship with anybody, not just students or fellow faculty. What's most important is to value each individual, and that can be done by treating everybody with respect.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department? How does your department prepare students for Higher education?

So basically, it is to make them aware of the umpteen opportunities they have and guide them in the right manner so that they pick the best option for them. And again, earlier, when it came to education, or as far as parents were concerned, there were very limited opportunities. That is, everyone used to think of either medicine or engineering, or people belonging to commerce in dated accounting, etc., or they were accountants But now the opportunities—and jobs—are huge. Making them aware of this itself is a primary task.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education in your department?

The greatest challenge for a teacher is to make the class understandable to every student. Students come from different educational backgrounds cultures, etc. So making the subject understandable to each individual or rather, bringing students to the same level, is a challenging aspect

How does the curriculum of your department/college ensure the best practices of the industry?

So to let the students know what is happening in the industry, we do bring in resource people. That is, if it's related to BBA, we have people from HR, etc. coming in and giving them classes to give them a feel for what is exactly happening in the organization.

How does the department/ college/University enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to industry standards?

We all go to faculty development programs and conferences, etc. So that helps us keep abreast of what is happening around us.

What are the interventions and approaches you bring in, apart from the curriculum, to train/teach the students?

We do give them soft skill training, and again, when they do their minor and major projects, they are given classes on how to prepare questionnaires, how to collect the data, and how to analyze the data as well. So these are the extra add-ons that we do give from our side.
