Mr. B.G.Kemparaj is the Principal at Skybird Aviation. He started his professional career in 1989 as a teacher at New Horizon Public School, Bengaluru. From 2006, he worked as an Administrative Officer at the Siddhartha Institute of Aeronautical Engineering and IT. Mr. Kemparaj completed his Master of Arts from Kuvempu University and holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Alagappa University in 2011.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your institute/dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

We at Skybird Aviation offer a Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation Management with Honor’s with an add-on course choice. Students can choose between the following add-on choices: Airport Ground Handling, Cabin Crew/Air Hostess Training Travel and Tourism, Airport Operations, and IATA Foundation Courses. Apart from the bachelor’s program we also offer various diploma and certificate courses in aviation management. Skybird Aviation is affiliated with Bengaluru City University and is an approved airport ground handling agency by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Government of India.


What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute/dept.?

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Aviation Management with Honors programme aims to provide high-quality business education with a focus on the aviation industry. We have multi-disciplinary entry and exit options. The curriculum is carefully designed to integrate core Business, Commerce, and Management modules with major elective courses that focus on topics related to developing business entrepreneurial skills and getting varied opportunities in different fields. The programme fulfils knowledge, vocational, professional, and skill requirements alongside humanities and arts, social, physical, and life sciences, and sports.


How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?

We have set up clear expectations at the beginning of the course or curriculum. We will be discussing periodically with the students these expectations and make sure the students are understanding the concepts. Moreover, we encourage the students to write down all the concepts so that they remember them well. Apart from the classes, we also encourage the students to actively participate in various academic activities to get real-time practical work experience in their respective domains.


How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students? 

The faculty goes through various activities and workshops to deliver the program to the students in an effective way. We also have faculty with years of experience in their domains, which contributes to better teaching in the programmes and makes the classes more engaging. We also teach new and advanced concepts through various digital sources like instructor-led training, virtual classroom learning, on-the-job training, blended learning, spaced learning, eLearning courses and microlearning.


How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program? 

Our students go through industry based internships, which augment education by linking theories and practises. It develops an understanding of analytical concepts and tools, builds confidence in students when using these skills, and refines skills essential for their success. Additionally, we have regular airport visits, technical visits, workshops, and seminars.


What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this  program?

Our students are involved in preparing written practical records as per subject modules. Students prepare model projects of different airports, and aeroplanes as part of their projects. Students also prepare written charts as a project with information and take part in making projects that have a research orientation in different areas.


What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

One who completes this programme can choose to work at MNC companies in Management positions. Alternatively, they can also work in the aviation industry like Airports. Our students are eligible for different jobs that are available in the industry  in aviation, such as Customer Service Executive, Customer Service Agent, Boarding Pass, Ticketing, Baggage Make Up Area, Cabin Crew/Air Hostess, Load Planner, Ramp Management, Airport Security Officer, Ground Staff, Flight Dispatcher Assistant, ATC, Aircraft Maintenance, Cargo, and Stew Ward.


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

There are a lot of difficulties that we go through, such as gathering the relevant required materials for the classes. We also face challenges once the curriculum is outlined; the instructors need to search for suitable materials to align with the course objectives. Apart from these, there are a lot of frameworks and policies that will be required for institutions. Concepts are emerging, and there are various recent updates to the curriculum that also need to be adapted in the academic year, for which we have to wait for development experts.
