You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

The key factors that keep me connected with the education sector are the opportunity to make a positive impact on student's lives, the joy of lifelong learning, and the ability to contribute to the growth and development of future generations. Witnessing the growth and success of students, seeing their passion for learning, and being part of their educational journey is incredibly rewarding. Moreover, the education sector constantly evolves, presenting new challenges and opportunities for innovation, which keeps me engaged and motivated to stay connected.


Being the HOD/Faculty of IICRM (Indian Institute of Clinical Research and Management) what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style? 

In terms of leadership philosophy, it is important to foster an environment of collaboration, open communication, and empowerment. As a leader at IICRM, my philosophy revolves around encouraging innovation, valuing diverse perspectives, and nurturing the growth and development of my team members. Regarding leadership style, I would describe it as a combination of transformational and servant leadership. I believe in inspiring and motivating my team to achieve their full potential while also serving and supporting them in their professional endeavours. Building strong relationships, setting clear expectations, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement would be key aspects of my leadership style.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

Studying in our institute in India can offer inbound students a unique and enriching experience. They can gain exposure to a diverse culture, rich heritage, and vibrant academic environment. Our institute provides quality education with a strong emphasis on practical skills, industry-relevant knowledge, and global perspectives. Inbound students can benefit from interacting with experienced faculty, collaborating with talented peers, and accessing various resources. They can also develop cross-cultural competencies, broaden their horizons, and build a global network of connections.


How does the curriculum of IICRM ensure the best practice of the industry?

The curriculum at IICRM is designed to ensure the best practices of the industry are incorporated. We regularly update our curriculum to align with the changing needs and trends in the industry. We engage industry experts and professionals as guest faculty or advisors to provide real-world insights and practical knowledge. Our curriculum includes hands-on training, case studies, industry projects, and internships to bridge the gap between theory and practice. We also emphasise industry-relevant certifications and encourage students to participate in industry events, conferences, and workshops. By integrating industry feedback and collaboration, our curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their respective fields.

To make our university/college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds, we can take several steps. Firstly, we should promote diversity and inclusivity through awareness campaigns, cultural events, and student organisations that celebrate various cultures and backgrounds. Secondly, we can provide scholarships, financial aid, or work-study programs to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Additionally, creating mentorship programs, support networks, and counselling services can help students feel valued, supported, and included. Lastly, fostering a campus culture that encourages open dialogue, respect, and understanding can contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.


What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

As a faculty member or HOD at the institute, my roles and responsibilities are multi-faceted. Firstly, I am responsible for delivering high-quality education and ensuring effective teaching and learning experiences for students. This includes designing and delivering curriculum, conducting assessments, and providing guidance and mentorship to students. Secondly, I contribute to the overall development and growth of the institute by engaging in research activities, fostering industry collaborations, and participating in academic and administrative committees. Additionally, I have a responsibility to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, address students' concerns, and support their personal and academic growth. Overall, my roles and responsibilities revolve around providing quality education, contributing to institutional development, and ensuring the well-being and success of students.


What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

The institute's top priority over the next ten years should be to adapt and innovate in response to the rapidly changing educational landscape and evolving industry needs. This includes staying abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and pedagogical approaches to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, fostering strong industry partnerships, promoting research and innovation, and expanding global collaborations should also be prioritized. By staying agile and forward-thinking, the institute can ensure it remains at the forefront of delivering relevant and high-quality education to prepare students for the future.

One thing I would like people to know about our institute is our strong emphasis on practical, hands-on learning experiences. We believe in equipping students with not just theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that are directly applicable to their chosen fields. To establish a healthy relationship and environment in our institute, we focus on numerous factors. Encouraging open and transparent communication between faculty, staff, and students is crucial. We provide platforms for feedback, suggestions, and addressing concerns to ensure everyone's voice is heard. We promote an environment that values and respects diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures. Inclusivity is fostered through various initiatives, events, and policies that ensure equal opportunities for all. We promote a culture of support and collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. Mentorship programs, peer support networks, and team-building activities are encouraged to foster positive relationships and teamwork.
