As the college director, what is your vision and long-term goals for college, and how do you plan to lead the college towards achieving them?
Our goal is to provide good manpower for the media industry. A journalist influences the mindset of lakhs and lakhs of people, and the media plays a very important role. It is guiding and ruling the mindset of the people. So our job is to produce journalists and media personalities who are responsible.
Could you provide an overview of the college's strategic initiatives or key projects that are currently in progress or planned for the future?
We believe in 70% practical and 30% theoretical training, because the students need to be well trained before they start working. We have already made five movies in which the students have actively participated. We also have two web series that are currently in production. The students get an on-hand live experience of the projects, and this is very unique in Indian mass communication colleges. We also have an earn while you learn programme, which means that after the completion of one year of studies, we encourage the students and help them with internships and part-time jobs in the industry.
How do you ensure effective communication and collaboration among various departments and stakeholders within the college?
We treat the students as friends, because until and unless they are treated as friends, they won't open up and share their problems with us. If we adopt a traditional approach to the students' and teachers’ relationship, communication is reduced. It is more of the teacher giving orders and the students obeying them. Once you have a friendly student-teacher relationship, the student opens up and actually discusses his problem, and then we as mentors guide him to success.

What measures or strategies are in place to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students, faculty and staff?
We tell our students to have fun when studying mass communication. It should not be boring and done just for the sake of completing a course. When someone approaches me to direct something, it is exciting for me, and that is how it should be with the students as well. Once you have fun with your career, it will not become burdensome, and you wouldn’t burn out. This, in turn, also fosters a light and collaborative environment in the college.
What role does innovation and technology play in college educational offerings? Can you provide examples of recent technology advancement implemented?
Most of the time, when a student walks inside a college, they see the big cameras and lights. They seem impressive, but they're hardly used today. The technology in this field has changed immensely. We don't have big lights now; we have small LED lights, which, you know, give the output of a bigger light. We don't have big cameras, but DSLRs. Even a smartphone can be used to shoot a 4K video. Software, and artificial intelligence, also play a major role here.
How does college engage with industry partners and employers to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with the need of job market?
Apart from the university syllabus and regular degrees, we also provide a parallel diploma. Whatever is left out of the university curriculum, we cover it in the diploma course. Students can use the diploma course to start working immediately without spending three to four years on a regular degree. We are also constantly in touch with news channels and media houses to understand what they need from employees and how we can include these in our degrees. Our diploma course is one such effort of this effort.

How does the college prioritize student support service such as career counselling, mental health resources and extracurricular activities?
Media is one of the fields where 90% of people are making reels on Instagram, facing the camera, taking shots, and editing them. They also see news channels, films, and web series. Our job becomes much easier when we talk about things that people relate to. If a student is making a reel, we give them guidance for editing or shooting it from certain angles. We also teach them and provide them with state of the art software to edit their creations.
